Kroger- Week 6

This week is a change of pace compared to the past four weeks of the internship. The interns returned to the Novi office to start working on the volunteer event, and group projects. Although it is nice to see everyone again, I am starting to miss the store. While working in the store, there was always something to do and something to learn from. However, being back in the office is similar to being back at Michigan State. Our days start at 9:00 am and end at 5:00 pm. The day consist mostly of working within our groups and ensuring we are all completing the work that needs to be done.

With only three weeks until our volunteer event, and we still have a long way to go. We have the basic ideas down; now we just need to put those ideas into action. Being a marketing specialist, I will be working with other interns as we come up with t-shirt and advertising ideas. I am really excited to work on this part of the event because this is an area that is very interesting to me. The other groups and also assigned to their own areas of specialties in hopes we can all come together and really excel in this event.

Other assignments we will be working on this week are our competition checks. Competition checks are designed to see how other local stores are performing compared to Kroger. Each intern will need to visit three different stores each week and write a one page paper response on each store. In this paper response, we will need to list three positive and three negative things about the store and how that is different compared to Kroger. Although this will take some time to complete I am interest on seeing how the other stores are standing compared to Kroger.
