Today was the first day that I felt like I had it all together. The staffing sheet was perfect, the start-up went great and all the team members seemed to be in pretty good spirits.
But, then it happened. We had a much higher day in expected cartons than what we had projected. So, then it turned into me having to make a lot of changes to keep up with the wing being overflowed with boxes.
To me, this proved that no matter how much you think the day is going to flow smoothly, it can change in the blink of an eye. Throughout the whole thing, I tried to stay as calm as possible as a million ideas were flowing through my head.
I can honestly say that my team members really helped me out today by answering any questions that I had. The other operations manager’s were very supportive at how well I was able to manage the stress today.
Even with no mentor or senior from the outbound department today, I was able to try to keep it together and made it out of the ten-hour shift alive. Not every day can be a walk in the park. But, if I am able to keep calm, I can manage through any crisis that I will face.
