As I continued my scouting this week, I have really noticed the different life stages of the corn. Now that the corn is getting pretty tall it makes it easy to determine what stages the corn is in. To explain as short as possible each full leaf is a stage and up until the corn is present it is considered v1, v2, v3 etc. Gro-Alliance grows many different varieties of seed corn and one thing that I have found interesting, is how two different varieties at the same stage can be completely different size. Sometimes there is corn in v6 that might only be up to your knees but in another field there could be v6 corn up to your hip. Just strange that the same life stage can have completely different lengths.
